Jet Set Musical Theatre Intensive Camp - July 22-26

Amy Bowman

Program Director

Amy has years of experience as both a parent and staff in a youth performing arts company. She most recently served as Show Coordinator with Journey Theater prior to joining Lovegood as a board member and the first Lovegood staff member! Amy has both performed and taught dance throughout her life and has a passion for the role dance plays in the overall performing arts. At Lovegood she works tirelessly to ensure all of our programming runs as smoothly as possible and is often seen with her husband Matthew Bowman behind the scenes making all the magic happen. The Lovegood community is incredibly lucky to have Amy Bowman in this role.

Angela Russell

Business Manager

Angela is excited to combine her love of sequins, show-tunes and spreadsheet as Lovegood’s business manager.  Angela has a background in both the legal and technical fields, as well as having costumed approximately 20 shows.  Angela loves taking care of the math so the creators can create and very much enjoys being a part of such a welcoming community.  When not working, Angela enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, embarrassing her three children, and hoarding craft supplies.

Brooke Flood

Production Manager, Resident Artist

Brooke grew up in Long Beach, WA where the love of theatre was planted. She enjoyed growing up in an environment of young kids and retirees taking the stage. She earned her BA in Theatre: Acting/Directing & Tech/Design from George Fox University.

Brooke is an accomplished actor, director, designer and manager. She hopes to inspire students of any age in their pursuit of theatre and in their pursuit of life, and loves inspiring actors and technicians to bring their best self to the table.

When she’s not working you can find her raising her two young boys, trying to keep her plants alive, making a mess of a DIY or reading a book.

Danielle Coudriet

Instructor

Design for the Stage: Props

Danielle has loved the last 7 years as a theater mom. She continues to work and volunteer at Lovegood, because she knows the blessing this theater was for her own daughter, and because of the amazing community Lovegood has grown to be. Danielle has spent the last 6 years serving on Hair and Makeup committees, generally designing and leading them. Over the years she has branched out to working on sets and props, and can’t find an area of theater she doesn’t love (that’s a lie, please keep her away from costumes). Away from the theater, Danielle enjoys being outdoors, going to shows in the area, spending time with family and friends, with her two shadows (dogs) by her side.

Daniel Eremeyeff

Instructor

Addams Family Revue for Tweens

Daniel has been performing on stage and working backstage for over a decade. He loves nothing more than being on stage singing and dancing. He has been playing the piano most of his life, and has taken many music courses at Portland Community College while completing his Associate of Arts Degree. Daniel has performed on stage in well over 20 productions, and more to come. He hopes to be able to help people feel more comfortable being on stage, and help them reach their fullest potential. In his spare time Daniel loves to play piano and ride his bike.

Grace Thompson

Resident Artist, Program Coordinator, Lovegood Youth Supervisor

Grace grew up all over the United States, but spent most of her life sporadically in the good ol’ Midwest. A lonely childhood with solace found in musicals from the Golden Age of Broadway ignited her zealous love of theatre. She is passionate about art, storytelling and character development through movement and choreography. She views the actor as an athlete and strives to grow students in their technique, strength and stamina.

Grace earned her BA in Fine Arts from Indiana University where she also studied dance and theatrical arts. She has worked in multiple facets of theatre since then including directing, choreographing, tech/design, teaching and performing.

Riley Fissell

Instructor

Addams Family Revue for Tweens

Riley has been performing over half her life and loves dancing and acting. Alongside performing, Riley has taught many kids production classes, directed summer camp, and stage managed Lovegood’s summer production. She has extensive training in hip hop, tap, and theatre jazz and is thrilled to inspire her students to find their own style. She hopes to help every student grow in their individuality and forge their own path- to not get caught up in comparing their abilities to others’ because she believes everyone has their own strengths to shine onstage. When not at Lovegood, Riley is most likely frosting cakes at Nothing Bundt Cakes, spending time with friends or eating snacks.

Robbi Kumalo

Instructor

Beginning Acting for Adults

For more than 25 years, Robbi K's concerts have been joyous and exhilarating, with a focus on amusing and edifying the entire family, from parents to grandparents, toddlers to teens. Everybody participates with voices, hands, feet and hearts.

Robbi K’s powerful lyric soprano has graced TV commercials for the likes of Coca Cola, Lincoln Mercury, and GE, while onstage and in studios it has served her well in establishing an active career as a back-up singer for such superstars as Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Jewel, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart, Daniel Rodriquez, Mary J. Blige, and Harry Belafonte. With these stars, Robbi has appeared on Oprah, 60 Minutes, Rosie, Live with Regis & Kathy Lee, The View, VH1 Storytellers, The Today Show, and The Late Show with David Letterman.

Robbi is married to Grammy-winning bassist Bakithi Kumalo, whose longstanding association with Paul Simon is a story unto itself. And together, Robbi and Bakithi move easily among the jazz, pop, blues and world music genres for young audiences either as a duo or with their world-class ensemble of musicians.

Robbi K presents a variety of lively, interactive musical and storytelling concerts ncluding "Keep the Beat,” which has been performed most recently at NYC’s Symphony Space, The Philadelphia International Children's Festival; The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, Florida; The State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey; and The Berks Jazz Festival. Robbi’s most requested show, which plays invenues nationwide, is inspired by Paul Simon's Grammy winning Graceland. As a storyteller, “Turtle’s Shell,” derived from her Parents' Choice Award winning CD Keep the Beat! she incorporates music and spoken word in an outstanding and unique manner. These days, she’s performing a new live show based on her recent album, Music Makes Me Happy, with an emphasis on jazz, pop, and world music.

A trained Lincoln Center for Aesthetic Education Teaching Artist, Robbi K has created a new kind of artistic presentation, which successfully combines music, theater, and culture with a worldview that makes a dramatic break from the Eurocentric norm. For years, she has been a major force in bringing a sense of the world community to children’s musical theater. Robbi sings and speaks English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian. In addition she has developed a host of characters that incorporate a variety of accents, dialects and Zulu idioms in into her shows. Her award winning CDs for children attest to the fact that all children relate to great music and storytelling and that cultural differences are opportunities for sharing and celebration. Robbi K has released three children's CDs: Set It Free, Keep the Beat! (honored with a Parents’ Choice Award), and most recently, Music Makes Me Happy, recipient of a 2007 Parents’ Choice Silver Award.

Born in New York City, Robbi Hall Kumalo, grew up funny, dramatic, and completely stage-struck. Her family nickname was “Sarah” (as in Bernhardt), and responding to the eclectic mix of musical styles (from R&B to Chopin) played in her home, she wrote her first song, "A 'U' Monkey Face" – a tribute to her brother’s funny face – at the age of three. Robbi’s early years were filled with dance and piano lessons, singing in her church choir, and appearing in local musical productions.

She says, "My desire is to offer music that people can really get involved with. Young people are a lot hipper and smarter than we give them credit for. Their music doesn't have to be pabulum or speak down to them. It can spark their minds as well as their hands and feet.”

Sophia Komarek

Instructor

Addams Family Revue for Younger Students

Sophia exudes the heart of a storyteller in all she does. With a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and English, she has spent the last four years studying acting, directing, writing, literature, voice and movement in her time at George Fox University. Sophia’s heart is for people to connect with one another through storytelling. She believes the arts can be an expression of what is true, good and beautiful and she delights in discovering these things within a compassionate community. Sophia loves spontaneous dance parties, serving at her local church and spending time outside with Jesus. In her spare time you will usually catch Sophia with a cup of coffee or singing a silly song (or both!).
