Audition Materials

All students will be assigned a role(s) in this production class. Mini auditions will be held the first class night to assign roles. It will be very helpful to the success of your student and the class if students were familiar with the audition materials ahead of Monday’s class. Our instructors will take time to review the materials with the students at the beginning of class, before they audition. It is not a requirement to have everything memorized, but rather just be familiar with the songs and lines. There is no choreography to learn for this audition.

• VOCALS: Please listen and sing-along to the songs several times before the first day of class. This does not need to be memorized for the audition but it will be very helpful to know the timing and melody of the songs. All students should be familiar with Selection 1. Students who are interested in a larger speaking role must be willing to sing a solo during the audition process.

• ACTING: These are called “Sides”, which simply means a portion of the script used in the audition process. Please be familiar with all parts. These do not need to be memorized for the audition, but it will be very helpful is the student is already familiar with the content, especially if they are not strong readers. Students who are interested in a larger speaking role must be willing to read for a part during the audition process.
