Costumes - 1 Hour Class

Here are the Costume assignments for Hercules & Friends 1 hour class. Please reach out if you have any questions. Students should plan to wear these items to class on 3/14.

EVERYONE - Everyone will need a base layer of black:

  • Black Lovegood T-shirt

    • If you are a new student, you’ll get your FREE T-shirt at the next class on 3/14!

      • Please just wear another T-shirt to class.

        • Mrs. Bowman will be sending out an email about T-shirts in the next few days.

  • Black Pants

  • Black Socks

  • Black Shoes *closed toed shoes are a requirement

    • Black is preferred, if you don’t own a black pair please wear your darkest shoe option. We just want to avoid any neon or brightly colored shoe options. And nothing too noisy (heels, etc…)

      • If students have Jazz shoes, those are great options but they are not a requirement.

Performance Details

Exhibition Performance details are outlined below. Please mark your calendars accordingly.

THURSDAY, MARCH 21, 2024

  • RILEY’S 1 HOUR CLASS

    • Student arrival at 5pm

    • Doors will open to guests at 5:15pm

    • Performance will begin promptly at 5:30pm (approx. 10 minutes)

      • Families are welcome and encouraged to stay for our other performances.

        • Guests will be asked to exit and re-enter the theatre once their student’s class performance is over, to allow for priority seating for our next class families and their guests. Familes with a student in our 1 Hour AND 2 Hour Classes will be permitted to remain in their seats for the next performance only.

  • MADELEINE’S CAST

    • Student arrival at 5:50pm

    • Doors will open to guests at 6:05pm

    • Performance will begin promptly at 6:20pm (approx. 30 minutes)

  • RUTH’S CAST

    • Student arrival at 7pm

    • Doors will open to guests at 7:15pm

    • Performance will begin promptly at 7:30pm (approx. 30 minutes)

Families are welcome and encouraged to support all of our Hercules & Friends: A KIDS Musical Theater Quest performances.

  • Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian during the performance(s) they are watching. Please do not plan to drop your student off early unattended and/or leave them unattended after their performance to return at a later time to pick up. This will be a very busy evening and Lovegood Staff is not equipped to handle student supervision outside of class performance arrangements. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Parent / Guardian Information

LOCATION: We are located at 16260 NW Bronson Road, Beaverton OR 97006 inside of Remedy City Church. Our entrance is located at the the back of the building.

CHECK-IN: Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to ensure that we get your student checked in and they are ready to begin class promptly at the class start time. Remind your student to always check in with Mrs. Bowman at the desk before joining their friends!

  • 5pm Class - Doors will open at 4:45pm

  • 6pm Class - Doors will open at 5:45pm

  • Please do not drop off earlier than 15 mintues prior to your class start time.

  • Please do not leave your student unattended outside.

Rehearsal Tracks

It is very important that your student practices at home. Please have your student listen to and practice with the Rehearsal Tracks, these have the words and will help them with timing.

There are multiple tracks, which may be useful for your student once we get further into the rehearsal process. For now, please start with the “Full” tracks until your student has more guidance on their parts for each song.

Lyric sheets for each song are provided in the student script, for easy reference when practicing.

Daily Class Checklist

Students should arrive prepared for each class with the following items:

  • Snack - Students will have a snack break during class. Please pack a quick and easy to grab and eat snack.

  • Filled water bottle - We do not have any water fountains on site. Please ensure that your student brings a filled water bottle to class and that their name is clearly visible on the bottle.

  • Script - They may use pencil, pen, highlighters etc…to mark their parts. Students will not be allowed to keep the scripts. We will need the folder and all contents returned at the end of the class season.

  • Sharpened pencil to take notes.

  • Comfortable clothing that students can move around in. Please review our dress policy here: DRESS POLICY.

    • Please ensure that their clothes keep them covered at all times, specifically when they raise their arms up over their head and bend over to touch their toes.

  • Closed-toed Shoes, no sandals or flip-flops please.

Guidance Regarding Casting Decisions (Updated 01/24)

If you are a returning Lovegood family and your student has previously been enrolled in our KIDS classes, please review this information as it has been updated for this class season.

GUIDANCE REGARDING CASTING DECISIONS

When auditioning for a show, or in this case a variety of theatrical material, students typically have a goal and/or desire to be considered for a specific role. While it’s great to have goals, it’s also helpful to understand that casting may not always turn out the way one would hope. We find it helpful if you start preparing your student for potential disappointment if they aren’t cast in the role that they were hoping for. We encourage you to start having those conversations with your student now, before the next class.

There are many factors that are considered during the casting process. It’s not just about the students ability to sing, dance and act. How a student behaves during class and the audition process is just as important. Do they listen and take direction well? Are they willing to sing a solo? Do they show effort and energy in their performance? These are just a few examples.

It’s also important to note that if a student isn't cast as they had hoped, it doesn’t mean that they did poorly on their audition. In this class format all students will perform together; students who show directors they are able to take on more responsibility with performing may be given more and placed in a leadership position for their peers. All roles are important and necessary to tell the story.

Thank you for your understanding and support in helping to make this class experience a positive one for your student. It’s our hope that your student will enjoy the process, embrace the role(s) that they are assigned, grow in their skills and have a fun class!

PRACTICE AT HOME

It will be very important for your student to put in time each week outside of class time to work on their material (acting, singing & dancing). This will include learning and memorizing lines, songs and dances. In your email, you will be provided access to our class Callboard. This will be our main means of communication with you after the first class night and will contain all the necessary information and materials your student will need to be successful in this class. The instructors may provide choreography videos, vocal part tracks, etc. to aid in at home practice; however, students are encouraged to take notes during class as they're able and not rely on these supplemental materials.
