Performance Attire
All students will be required to wear a base layer of black as their performance attire on Friday, June 30th. This includes:
Lovegood black t-shirt (provided to students)
Long black pants NOTE: Due to the heat, students may wear shorts to camp in the morning and bring their pants along to change into after lunch.
Black shoes (black is preferred but a dark color will work if black is not an option)
Hair: Hair should be styled out of the face:
Girls: Styling 1/2 up and 1/2 down, ponytails and/or braids are great options.
Boys: If hair is long and tends to cover the face, please plan to slick the hair back on Friday.
Students will need to arrive to camp on Friday wearing these items.
If this is a hardship for you, please let our staff know by emailing classes@lovegood.company as soon as possible.
Guidance Regarding Casting Decisions
When auditioning for a show, students typically have a goal and/or desire to be considered for a specific role. While it’s great to have goals, it’s also helpful to understand that there can only be one Simba and one Timon (or one of any role your student is hoping for). We find it helpful if you start preparing your student for potential disappointment if they aren’t cast in the role that they were hoping for. We encourage you to start having those conversations with your student now, before the Cast List is posted.
All roles are important to the telling of the story; however only one student will be assigned to a specific role and this is based on the Directors’ limited time with your student on Monday during the audition process. There are many factors that are considered during the casting process. It’s not just about the students' ability to sing, dance and act. How a student behaves during the audition process is just as important. Do they listen and take direction well? Are they willing to sing a solo? Are they willing to read for a certain role, when asked? These are just a few examples.
It’s also important to note that if a student is cast in an ensemble role, it doesn’t mean that they did poorly on their audition. Again, we encourage you to start this conversation with your student before Monday. Thank you for your understanding and support in helping to make this camp experience a positive one for your student. It’s our hope that your student will enjoy the process, embrace the role(s) that they are assigned and have a fun camp!
