Build-a-Cabaret
We are excited to offer a guaranteed performance opportunity for students aged 14-22. A cabaret is a performance including song, dance, recitation and script that is usually performed in an intimate environment where the audience is usually sat at small tables-eating and drinking.
During this class, the students will be given the ability to build a “one-man” or a small cast performance. During the season, they will write, cast, direct, and star in a short 10 minute performance per student. The music can be previously written so songwriting experience is not necessary. The wheel will be in your hands and will have full control over the creative license. This is all about the story you want to tell! Due to the performance times, this class will be extremely limited in capacity.
Have you ever wanted to direct? Cast? Choreograph? This class might be for you. It’s time to take the wheel into your own hands and tell a story that is meaningful and compelling. “Build-a-Cabaret” is all about giving you the student, the ability to write a plot line and script, source the music, cast (whether it’s just you or a few friends), choreograph, promote, and perform! The music can be previously written so songwriting experience is not necessary. This is all about the story you want to tell! Due to the performance times, this class will be extremely limited in capacity. (Limit 8)
This class will meet Mondays from 6pm to 8pm, from January 9 through March 13. There will be no class February 23 because of tech week for our Main Stage Production. Mandatory dress rehearsal: Saturday, March 18 from 8pm-10pm. Performance: Monday, March 20 at 7pm.
Whether you are a returning student or new to the team, thank you for helping us to entertain, educate, and inspire!
