Intro to Theatre Jazz for Adults
Come brush up on old skills or gain new ones in this introductory jazz dance class for adults. This class is perfect for adults who are new to musical theatre or have taken a break from the stage and want to grow in technique, strength, flexibility and confidence for approaching choreography in musical theatre. Students in this class will be equipped with practical skills that can be taken to our mainstage productions.

Murder Mystery
Welcome to murder mystery 101! In this class, we will explore different murder, mystery scripts, and perform for a live audience with a dynamic and humorous Exhibition. In this class, we explore script contrasting with improvised comedy. We will also explore staying in character while facing unexpected interactions. This will all culminate in a performance that will look like it was planned all along. Come join us this winter!
This is a guaranteed performance opportunity for students aged 10-18. It is recommended that students interested in this class have some Improv class experience.
Design for the Stage: Costumes
In our Costumes Class, you’ll unravel the secrets behind selecting, creating, and manipulating fabric (and all other kinds of found objects and textiles) to enhance every performance. Whether you’re a budding actor, a seasoned stagehand, a curious enthusiast, or someone who just wants to be able to make a halloween costume and hem their pants! This immersive class offers hands-on training diving into:
Selection and Design: Discover how costumes are chosen or crafted to align seamlessly with the production’s theme and time period or chosen aesthetic. How do we get from script to stage?
Characterization: Explore how costumes can deepen character development and add layers of authenticity to an actor's performance.
Technical Skills: Learn essential techniques for sewing safely starting with the basics. From how to add a good dart to when to throw in an elastic waistband.
Creative Problem-Solving: Master the art of quick thinking, adapting, and using an outside the box approach!

Beginner Tap
If you've always wanted to learn to tap dance, this class is for you! This one hour class is perfect for any true-beginner tap student ages 6+ (Have a little bit of tap experience? Check out our 2 hour class!) Students will build a strong foundation in tap dance through the exploration of beginning tap steps, rhythm, combinations and across the floor exercises. Throughout the class students will work on learning choreography for the exhibition performance. Grab your tap shoes and come join the fun!

Beginning Acting for Adults
Here at Lovegood, as we celebrate theatre at every stage, we want to give a unique opportunity for the adults in our community to build some acting training in their toolbelt. Whether you are interested in honing existing skills to be a more well-rounded performer or you just are curious to see what can unfold with a good acting class, this class will be a perfect fit for you. We will be exploring some foundational acting methods and applying them to a combination of script and characters. Plus you will make some friends for a lifetime here and build some skills in raising your confidence in your normal life.

Advanced Beginner/Intermediate Tap
This class is perfect for anyone 10+ who has some tap dance experience and is excited to take their skills to the next level! This class will move at a moderate pace with the expectation that students have some prior knowledge (New to tap dance? check out our true beginner 1 hour class!). Students will build their step vocabulary, rhythm, precision and strength through the introduction of new tap steps, as well as drills, combination and across the floor exercises, Throughout the class students will work on learning choreography for the exhibition performance. Learning to Harmonize

ELEVATE Dance Camp
Students in this camp will elevate their skills in musical theatre dance, hip hop and tap as well as train to prepare for dancing in our upcoming mainstage productions. Building technique and learning choreography will be the focus of the camp which will culminate in an exhibition performance on Thursday evening. Students will also receive callback dance preparation and practice along with general conditioning and strength training. All levels welcome!
This is a guaranteed performance opportunity for students aged 14+.
Jet Set: Musical Theatre Intensive
Take off to new heights and become “jet set” this summer at Lovegood! In this musical theatre intensive for ages 13-22, students will work on honing their skills in acting, singing, dancing and carrying consistent character through the entirety of a performance. The week will consist of learning vocals and choreography for 3 musical theatre numbers, along with character, acting and theatrical stamina exercises. The exhibition performance will be headlined by "Jet Set" from Catch Me If You Can to showcase all the new skills campers will have gained through the camp.

Next Level Vocals
Musical theatre requires singers to have flexibility within their range and the ability to use their vocal registers in a way that meets the stylistic requirements of a song. Using vocal exercises and a variety of musical theatre repertoire, this class will help you:
Learn how to find your head and chest registers, which can lead to an increased range.
Learn exercises to help blend your head and chest voice in those tricky break areas.
Experiment with mixing head and chest registers to create a powerful, sustainable tone.
Experiment with belting styles and when to use them.

Improv III-Sketch Comedy
At Lovegood, we are very used to telling fun and compelling stories. Have you ever been hanging with your pals and come across an idea for a fun scene that would be funny to put on stage? Something like, “Mom always sneaks random nutritious items in the homemade desserts” Here is your chance to build out a scene and write a rough script to put on stage. This is how comedy GOLD happens. This class will use the tenets of IMPROV as a good foundation for building a good scene. We will take it from there and perfect scenes to their potential. This will end with trying out our scenes on stage for the exhibition. Who knows what can happen from there?

Dance FUNdamentals
Whether you’re completely new to dance, coming back to dance after a long break or a current active performer, this class will help you hone your technique, strength, stamina, coordination, rhythm and body control. Design for the Stage: Hair and Makeup
Join us this Spring season as we dive into design of hair & makeup for the stage! You'll learn each step of the process with your own hair & makeup design as well as techniques to learn what possibilities there might be that you’ve never before explored! Through creating mood boards, sketches, wig stand trials, material exploration and practice on faces, you will learn the full arc of design. We will be implementing all of this knowledge with designing and executing hair and makeup for our spring main stage play: Peter Pan! This class is great for anyone who wants to direct, use any aspect of design, build, craft, create, make new friendships, and strengthen old ones!
