What is new for Winter Season
For families in our community who participated our Fall show we want to draw your attention to things that will be different this season.
Main Stage Show - Our Main Stage production this term is Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach. This production is for students aged 8 to 22. Roles will be assigned based on our audition process and casting is not guaranteed. Auditions will be December 17 and will start rehearsing January 4. This show will follow a similar rehearsal process to our Fall show. There will be ticketed performances March 4-6 and March 11-13. Click here for more information about our Main Stage Show.
Production Classes - Every student taking one of our production classes will perform at the end of the season. For our students age 8-14, we will be putting on Disney’s Frozen KIDS. Each class will perform once. For students aged 12-22, we have two Musical Theater Revue classes titled Easy Street: Broadway’s Take on the Almighty Dollar. One class will focus on voice and dance and the other will focus on voice and acting. Each Musical Theater Revue class will perform twice.
Our new location for classes, rehearsals and performances is 16260 NW Bronson Road, Beaverton, OR 97006.
What is New for Lovegood Shows
For families in our community who participated in a Journey Theater show in the past, we want to draw attention to some new ways that shows will function with Lovegood to ensure a smooth transition for everyone.
Production Fee is called Show Tuition - each show is a learning experience for students and the tuition that is required makes it possible to create both an incredible learning experience for students and a high quality production for patrons at a fair ticket price
Registration and Auditions - please follow the steps referenced here as the audition registration process is different than you might be used to
Students Participate in Production Work - with our Technical Theater classes we are able to have students involved in production work like sets, props, costumes, hair and make up, etc.
Parent Committees are Production Teams - since we have students and parents involved in the production work (sets, props, costumes, hair and make up, etc.) it is more appropriate to call them a Production Team, additionally any student who is 18+ may serve on the Production Team for themselves
Parent Commitment is Not Required - a commitment to participate in a Production Team from parents is not required, but the Show Tuition increases if there is no commitment as we will need to find other resources to help complete all the important production work
Stage Manager - we have an experienced paid Stage Manager for each show who will handle many of the same things you would have seen a Show Coordinator handle
Class Participation is Not Required, but Highly Encouraged - there is not a requirement to be registered for an additional Lovegood class to participate in the show, though our classwork is designed to help students prepare for live performances and are the best way for our instructors to really get to know each student
Background Checks for Students 18+ - all students participating in the show who are 18+ must pass a background check at their expense ($20)
