Design for the Stage: Costumes
In our Costumes Class, you’ll unravel the secrets behind selecting, creating, and manipulating fabric (and all other kinds of found objects and textiles) to enhance every performance. Whether you’re a budding actor, a seasoned stagehand, a curious enthusiast, or someone who just wants to be able to make a halloween costume and hem their pants! This immersive class offers hands-on training diving into:
Selection and Design: Discover how costumes are chosen or crafted to align seamlessly with the production’s theme and time period or chosen aesthetic. How do we get from script to stage?
Characterization: Explore how costumes can deepen character development and add layers of authenticity to an actor's performance.
Technical Skills: Learn essential techniques for sewing safely starting with the basics. From how to add a good dart to when to throw in an elastic waistband.
Creative Problem-Solving: Master the art of quick thinking, adapting, and using an outside the box approach!
If you are 12 or older, join us to learn new life skills and uncover the process of magic behind the costumes that bring stories to life!
